Dot NAME Domains

Established in 2001, the Dot NAME universal domain name extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal sites only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are popular by. At the beginning, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to book john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered 3rd-level domain names remained running.
